Welcome to Theme Song Saturdays, a new weekly meme, hosted by yours truly, in which we share our love of music and books! Since I love books and music, this meme is for fun to try to incorporate those two loves! Whenever I read a book, a certain song -- kind of like a soundtrack or theme song -- plays through my head.
Want to know how to play? Head over to the Theme Song Saturday introduction post to read the rules and get the code.
Two picks this week:
Cry Little Sister cover by Season After and It's Been Awhile by Staind both encompass so many aspects of this book. And, if I'm honest, the previous book, as well. Even though It's Been Awhile is more than likely about a heroine addiction, a lot of the symbolism in the lyrics make me thing of Akiva's love for Karou/Madrigal and the fact that he, in his very essence, feels like a betrayal. If he could, he would give anything and sacrifice anything for her. However, because of their past, she cannot see that. Since Cry Little Sister was a theme/written for Lost Boys, I feel the tension of in the seraphim and chimaera. Both are telling Akiva and Karou that there is kinship and familial bonds in their group, and, once part of that, you cannot leave.
