My reviews are based solely on my thoughts and feelings about the books. Since reading is an intensely personal experience to me and based on the education I received getting a degree in English, all of my reviews include what I liked and disliked about a book. They are all 100% honest and 100% original. I
will not compromise my integrity as a person or a book blogger by giving anything other than a fully honest review. Since my reviews are all honest opinion, I will not shy away from pointing out the things that did not work in a book; inconsistencies in plot and characters; bad grammar and editing; etc. However, I do strive to balance my criticism with honest praise. An author cannot hope to mature in their craft unless they have constructive criticism.
What Reviews Include:
- Cover art
- Author & publication date
- Pages (based on book format)
- Genre details
- Opening lines
- Book summary, usually from the jacket copy or Goodreads
- My personal thoughts
- A skull rating
- A review posted on Goodreads and Amazon
Genres:
- Urban fantasy/Paranormal
- Post-Apocalyptic/zombies
- Horror/thriller/suspense
- Dystopic
- Young adult
- Paranormal romance
- Some erotica (I tend to be pretty selective)
- General fiction (I tend to be pretty selective)
Formats:
Hard copy. I do not own an e-reader and will
not read a document/pdf on my computer.
When Submitting a Request:
- Give me a week to respond to your request. If you haven't heard from me, please send another request.
- E-mail subject line should read: Review Request BOOK TITLE
- Info about the book/book summary
- Author website
- Author Twitter
- Amazon book listing
- Any relevant links
- I will NOT review books that have not been professionally edited.
After a Book Has Been ACCEPTED:
- I may not get to your book right away. If you have a specific time frame, we can discuss it.
- Be prepared for an author interview or guest post.
- Just because the book has been accepted for a review does not mean that I will finish reading the book or post a review. It has happened once due to horrible editing. While I do not intend this to happen, I need to state it.
A Note Before Submitting:
Please take the time to fully read my review policy. I love receiving requests and—in most cases—will accept the books for review. Please keep in mind, however, that I am taking time out of my life to review your book and would appreciate you to respect that enough to read my policy. If you have an e-book, please
do not send me a review request. If you had taken the time to read my policy, you would realize that I do not own an e-reader and will not sit in front of my computer reading a document. I'm sorry, but this is a hard and fast rule. If it changes, I will make the appropriate adjustments to my policy. Unfortunately, after receiving several e-mails asking for a review of an e-book, I have started deleting these requests. Originally, I would take the time to find fellow book bloggers who were willing to take e-books, but I decided to stop. Frankly, with my new job starting, I
